It’s almost a year since we moved into our new store location and the last 12 months have been a real adventure! We’re still working the bugs (figuratively, not literally!) out of the website (sorry for the absence of the address, we’re working on that today) and we’re still working on finalizing a few merchandising projects in the shop, so we can better showcase vintage lighting and fabric. We also decided to move some of our workspace down to the basement to allow for more merchandise on the sales floor. This means that the basement had to be completely reorganized. It never ends!
It’s not always easy being the owner of a vintage furniture shop. I eat, breathe and sleep Ethel and sometimes it’s hard to see the forest for the trees. I am at the store 6 days out of the week and when I’m not here, I’m working on store projects. Delivering furniture to customers, searching out new inventory, doing bookkeeping, visits to the upholsterer...it means that Ethel is more than a full time job, it’s my life. I wouldn’t have it any other way either.
We want to thank all our customers, new and old, for their support over this last tumultuous year. Moving the store meant getting to know a whole new neighborhood, and Corktown is different than Leslieville in so many ways. We see so much potential here and we have met so many new customers so we know we made the right choice. And remember, its your patronage that allows us to keep our doors open!
We also want to thank all our friends for their support too. Big shout out to LisaJo at Princess Perfect Upholstery, our contractor Aresh Katirai of Brilliant By Design, Marla Good, Shannon Nickie, Roni Brown, Shermy Freeman, Jacquie Jeffery, and if I’ve forgotten anyone, we apologize,....just know that we’re grateful for your support!
We look forward to many more years here in Corktown, helping to bring vintage to the masses and teaching people that life is too short for beige!
